It’s not every day a barbecue guy gets on national television for his appetizers. Really, if you think about it what is hot crab dip ? Usually served with sides of crackers, bread or on pretzel twists, Maryland Crab Dip is a cheesy crabby concoction of love. Normally one will eat this BEFORE a meal but leave it up to BBQ Guru Wayne Schafer to make it into one. The crab dip bowl measures about 6″ across, is gutted and stuffed with a few ounces of crab dip, when ripped apart like a cannabil, one can fill up on this as a meal. The lids and guts are served on the side.
Fun Fact: Featured on Food Network’s Carnival Eat’s Show Season One. See the Big Fat Daddy’s on Food Network announcement here.
Complaint: It’s not fat free and only can be bought if Schafer is selling it at a fair or festival. Most of these are on the East Coast and he’s not always selling it.
Odd But… on the Food Network show it doesn’t say how much Old Bay to put in….hmmmmmm
